| This year marks
the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Diocese of Bridgeport by Pope
Pius XII on August 6, 1953.
An ambitious schedule
of events and activities has been planned over a 15-month period, beginning
in January 2003 and continuing until the Feast of Pentecost, May 30, 2004.
The
theme of the Diocesan Celebration is: "One
Family in Faith"
In the true spirit
of jubilee, the observance will mark a time of spiritual renewal and rejuvenation,
a celebration of the diversity of the Diocese and a strong recommitment
to evangelization.
Each one of the 87
parishes in the Diocese of Bridgeport has a Golden Jubilee Coordinator.
He or she is responsible for publicizing Jubilee events on the parish
level and encouraging participation.
