2003 marked the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Diocese of Bridgeport by Pope Pius XII on August 6, 1953.

An ambitious schedule of events and activities has been planned over a 15-month period, beginning in January 2003 and continuing until the Feast of Pentecost, May 30, 2004.

The theme of the Diocesan Celebration is:
"One Family in Faith"

In the true spirit of jubilee, the observance will mark a time of spiritual renewal and rejuvenation, a celebration of the diversity of the Diocese and a strong recommitment to evangelization.

The schedule of events and activities on this page will be updated regularly. Please visit often and mark your calendars accordingly.

ONGOING IN 2004

January - May, 2004
573 Ogden St., Bridgeport

Habitat for Humanity Project

Jubilee House is under construction at 573 Ogden Street on the East Side of Bridgeport. Catholics young and old in all 87 parishes throughout Fairfield County will be invited to participate in the building project.

Completion is scheduled for May 2004, the formal end of the Golden Jubilee celebration in the Diocese.

The effort is in conjunction with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Bridgeport, an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a Christian housing ministry that builds simple, decent houses for families in need. The Bridgeport affiliate has been in operation for 18 years.

It takes heart, hands, financial and material resources and many hours to build a house, but it takes love to make a Home.

Make a monetary donation on behalf of the Parish or as a family!

Contribute professional expertise and materials!

Organize a Fundraiser in your Parish (Ministries making a difference!)!

Volunteer on-site individually or as a Parish Habitat Team on Mondays, Wednesdays or Saturdays only, each week from 8:00am - 3:00pm.

For more information, or to volunteer for the Diocesan Jubilee House project, contact the Golden Jubilee Coordinator in your parish, or call Sister Julie Horvath: 375-5887, or e-mail; or Betty Anne Casaretti: 372-4301, ext. 358; or e-mail.
