MIDNIGHT RUN TO NYC St. Francis Youth Group is participating in its annual Midnight Run on Sat., Apr. 18, beginning with 5pm Mass, followed by sorting and organizing clothing and toiletries for distribution to the homeless in New York City. Can you donate some of these items? backpacks, gently used men's and women's spring clothing, new men's and women's underwear and socks, lightweight blankets, and small travel-size toiletries. EMMAUS TEEN RETREAT sponsored by St. Aloysius Youth Group for high school sophmores to seniors, held May 1-3. It is not a traditional retreat weekend. It is a journey in faith, a sharing in Christian love, an opportunity to learn more about one's self, to explore one's relationship with God, family, and the human community. Emmaus originated in the diocese of Bridgeport in 1976 and has been active in St. Aloysius Parish since 1981. HOMEFRONT PROJECT open to all on May 2 from 9am-5pm. This marks St. Francis of Assisi Parish's 21st year of participation in HOMEFRONT, a community-based volunteer home repair program that provides quality of life repairs at no cost to the homeowners in need. HOMEFRONT selects the Bridgeport project to be worked on. We invite all adults and teens 14 years and older to volunteer, for all or part of the day as your schedule and talents permit. All kinds of helping hands are needed to do scraping and sanding, painting, carpentry, plumbing, moving furniture, and clean-up. Refreshments and lunch will be provided to workers throughout the day. Come work those underused muscle groups for a worthwhile cause: at the end of the day, you'll be so glad you did! NCYC is an exciting, biennial three-day experience of prayer, community, and empowerment for Catholic teenagers and their adult chaperones. Keynote addresses, concurrent and workshop sessions addressing a wide variety of topics, as well as liturgy, reconciliation, prayer and worship, recreation and special activities such as concerts, exhibits, and the interactive thematic park. Open to high school age young people and their chaperones. Most participants are Catholic. Many youth participants are leaders in their local parishes, schools and/or diocese, though many are just beginning to connect to their faith.
