VOTF MASS FOR SUCCESS OF SYNOD - Voice of the Faithful (VOTF) has invited all delegates of the 2014 Synod and the general public to attend a special Mass for the success of the Synod on Sept. 11 at 7:30pm at Saint Philip Church in Norwalk. Fr. Michael Boccaccio, pastor of Saint Philip, will be the celebrant and will offer a special blessing to all Synod delegates in attendance.  Light refreshments will follow. “We are hoping that delegates will come to the liturgy and in some way be uplifted by it.  It’s all about intercession because we are asking God’s blessing on the synod to bring us together as people of God and do what’s best for the diocese,” said Jamie Dance, VOTF Chairman and member of St. John Parish in Darien. Synod 2014 formally begins on Sept. 19, 7:30 p.m. at Saint Augustine Cathedral in Bridgeport with a Solemn Vespers Service, followed by the convening of the first General Session for delegates on Sat., Sept. 20 at St. Catherine of Siena in Trumbull.

CIRCUS FOR CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL NEEDS & CHRONIC DISEASES presented St. Vincent’s Medical Center Foundation on Tues., Sept. 16 and Wed., Sept. 17 from 11:30am-1pm under a large tent in Bridgeport’s Beardsley Park.  The old-fashioned circus, put on by the Zerbini Family, is held by invitation-only for the children and their caretakers from area schools thanks to a generous gift from Elizabeth Pfriem of Southport, CT.  The circus performance is expected to last one hour and 30 minutes.
