“LOURDES IN A DAY PILGRIMAGE” will be held Sat., Sept. 10, from 9:30 am to 4 pm at St. Thomas Seminary, 467 Bloomfield Avenue, Bloomfield, Conn. The Order of Malta invites those unable to make the trip to Lourdes, France to experience the joy, grace and healing promised by Our Lady of Lourdes. PICNIC/CARNIVAL—The St. Pius X picnic/carnival opens with an outdoor Mass on Sun., Sept. 11, at 10:30 am on the parish grounds and runs until 5 pm. There will be plenty of tasty food, baked goods, amusement rides, children’s games and prizes, a huge tag sale, the parish raffle drawing, a DJ and more. Free Admission, all are welcome!
PARISH PICNIC—Sun., Sept. 11, 12 noon until 6 pm, Holy Cross Church, at 750 Tahmore Drive, across from Lake Mohegan, Fairfield is having their annual picnic starting with a Polka Mass at 11 am & live entertainment all day by the Polka Quads of PA starting at noon. LANCER OPEN: Notre Dame High School, Fairfield, is currently taking reservations for their 16th Annual Lancer Open in memory of Bob Shea. VETERAN BRICK DEADLINE for donating a veteran's brick to the St. Margaret Shrine Veterans Memorial, is Fri., Sept. 30. Bricks can be donated honoring a veteran of the U.S. Military, or our Allies—living, deceased, wartime, peacetime, or currently serving. The Veterans Memorial is located at 2523 Park Ave., Bridgeport. Last year it was added to the National War Memorial Registry, a recording of our nation's war memorials: www.nationalwarmemorialregistry.org The names of the veterans, on newly donated bricks, will be published in our program book and read at our Sixth Annual Veterans Mass and Blessing on Sat., Nov. 5, at 12:15 pm. THE MONKS OF NORCIA will be sharing their life and spirituality on Fri., Sept, 30, at 5 pm at the Darien Community Association, 274 Middlesex Rd., Darien. Norcia has become particularly well known in recent years because of the American Benedictine monks who re-founded the monastery there in 2000. Presenters will include Fr.
