Dear Friends,

With prayerful gratitude, I extend my warmest greetings to you as we launch the 2012 Annual Bishop’s Appeal.

Through your kindness and sacrifice, we proclaim the Gospel, assist those in crisis through Catholic Charities, educate our youth and adults in the Faith, form future priests, and provide for our retired priests who continue to serve.

  • Catholic Charities has supplied more than 3.2 million meals over the past three years and completed more than 50,000 counseling sessions; many were uninsured.

  • In 2011, The St. Cyril of Jerusalem Program became available on DVD and online to assist with catechist training and adult education.

  • At a time when Catholic education is challenged, our Diocesan schools enrollment has increased by 5%.

  • There are currently more than 40 men from Fairfield County enrolled in major and minor seminaries.

Our Diocesan ministries are dependent upon your generosity to the Annual Bishop’s Appeal.  Please review the brochure and video to learn more about our important ministries that touch many lives.

Appeal reaches $11.7 Million
September 19, 2011

BRIDGEPORT – A surge in the number of new donors and the high renewal rate of previous givers pushed the 2011 Bishop’s Annual Appeal to an $11.7 million total to support the ministries and services provided by the Diocese of Bridgeport.

“As bishop it is gratifying to know that in difficult times, people have remained loyal to the Appeal,” says Bishop William E. Lori. “Likewise, our ability to attract new donors energized the Appeal and speaks well of the growing awareness of the good works it supports. As a diocese we are truly blessed by those who heed the words of the Gospel and animate their faith with charitable giving
and actions.”
