Welcome!

Open your hearts and minds to the mercy of God,
and allow His Love to transform your life.

Every Tuesday in Lent, every Parish in the Diocese of Bridgeport
will have priests waiting for you
to offer the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

Come, and receive the Lord’s unconditional love.

The Catholic faithful in all 87 parishes of the Diocese of Bridgeport are invited to begin a one-month prayer vigil on Sunday, January 25, the Feast Day of the Conversion of Saint Paul, for a specific intention: the fruitfulness of the forthcoming “Lenten Confession Campaign.”

The prayer (published below) will be recited at all Masses and distributed on prayer cards for Catholics to pray on their own. The prayer observance will end on Ash Wednesday, February 25, when Lent begins.

Every Lenten Tuesday

As part of the Lenten Confession Campaign, every one of the 87 churches in the diocese will be open on Tuesday evenings during Lent, starting March 3, from 7:00-9:00 p.m., when priests will be available to offer the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

Watch this space for more information as Lent approaches!

The Lenten Confession Campaign is part of the diocesan Pastoral Plan for Evangelization and the diocesan observance of the Year of Saint Paul.

The campaign’s theme is taken from Saint Paul’s second letter to the Corinthians: “Be reconciled to God” (2 Corinthians 5:20), and the painting on the prayer card depicts the parable of the Prodigal Son (Luke 15:11-32), by Rembrandt Harmensz van Rijn.

"He was lost, and is found." (Luke 15:24)

rPRAYER for the fruitfulness
of the Lenten Confession Campaign,
March 3-April 7, 2009

O Father of infinite mercy and compassion,
like the shepherd who searches
for the lost sheep,
and the woman who looks for the lost coin,
You always seek us out when we sin that, through the grace of the Holy Spirit,
we might be reconciled to You.

In the Holy Season of Lent,
draw Your people to the
Sacrament of Reconciliation
to experience the transforming joy
of Your Divine Mercy.
Let us know the power of
Your unconditional love
and the security of Your providential care.

Bless confessors so that they may be
your instruments in leading us
to true conversion of heart
and holiness of life.

Grant this through Christ Our Lord.
Amen.
