Lbrown-gambino@ccfc-ct.org The
Scattered Site Housing Program addresses the needs of a special population of
individuals with identified disabilities and who without subsidies for affordable
housing, would likely remain homeless. This further serves to strengthen the family
unit and makes it possible for families to remain intact. Critical
case management and Counseling is provided to the identified individual household
members, which links residents to services such as, mental health treatment, financial
entitlements, assistance in locating housing, training in Successful Tenancy,
Home Fire & Evacuation Safety, Employment re-entry education, family Nutritional
needs, and that support the health and well-being of those in our Scattered Site
Housing Program. Residents maintain an on-going relationship with their referring
case manager, who acts in a supportive role to the program's case manager. The
objective is to stabilize the family unit by offering them decent housing in familiar
neighborhoods, that will offer a sense of permanency. As a result, formerly homeless
children are able to remain in their schools, develop long-term friendships, and
teacher student relationships that empowering and provides continuity in their
educational pursuits. Residents live in the greater Bridgeport area and enjoy
the independence afforded them by living in Scattered Site apartments through
the area. They must be both mentally and physically stable to live independently.
